| Chapter H (Huronia) Poker
Run - August 18, 2002 I don't know how Chapter "H" (Huronia Wings) did it, but they got perfect weather for their Poker Run last Sunday! It was obviously very well organized, fun and very successful. One thing I do know is that a lot of planning and work went into producing such an excellent Poker Run. I have in the past, personally experienced the work and planning involved to put together such an event. When we arrived at the Midland Airport we were cheerfully greeted and then guided to our parking spot. Registration was well planned and set up with goodie bags, maps of the ride and complete directions. For those that know me, rumor is that I can get lost a few blocks from home. To my benefit, not only were the directions very clear, but every turn on the route had "GWTA" sign indicating the direction. I didn't count the turns, but there were an awful lot of signs. This alone must have taken quite some time to set up. The Poker Run was followed by an excellent barbecue with Hamburg's, Hot Dogs and Ribs then and of course, cold drinks to wash it all down. Seconds were available so no one ever left hungry. This Chapter also acquired a multitude of excellent door prizes. These guys are indeed very resourceful in obtaining so much to give away. I think almost everyone seemed to go home with something. With the number of bikes attending, a good size pot on the 50/50 draw was had. Then the winner of the Poker Run was announced. My passenger, who is very new to this, was impressed with how friendly and fun everyone was. I must congratulate Barry LeDuc and the members of Huronia Wings on such an excellent event that everyone thoroughly enjoyed. I know that this annual ride will grow with each passing year as it already has started to demonstrate. Hats off to Huronia Wings! Kevin Welch Toronto Wings CD |
